UVNN partners with Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital to provide patients with minimally invasive back surgery and spinal fusion and is honored to be part of the patient care team proudly accepting this extraordinary recognition.

U.S. News & World Report has been publishing the Annual Best Hospital Ranking for 33 consecutive years, in an effort to help patients and doctors make informed decisions about where to receive care for particularly challenging health conditions and elective care. Eligible hospitals receive one of three ratings: high performing, average, or below average. Hospitals that earned a high-performance rating are considered significantly better than the national average.

U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 5,000 hospitals nationwide, ranking them for performance in 15 adult specialties, 10 pediatric specialties, and 17 surgical procedures.  Determined ‘high performers’ are based largely on objective measures like risk-adjusted survival and remission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing, among other indicators.

Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital received a high-performing back surgery and spinal fusion score in the following categories:

  • Patient outcomes
  • Avoiding the overuse of back surgery
  • Discharging patients directly to the home
  • Overall patient care
